History in Bloom: Celebrating 50+ Years of TreePeople

History In Bloom, a new exhibition, invites Angelenos to step into the origins of TreePeople. Beginning March 23 through April 8, 2026, History in Bloom opens to the public, offering a chance to explore more than five decades of environmental leadership, community action, and urban forestry innovation.

A Walk Through TreePeople’s History

The archival exhibition highlights our early beginnings in 1973, pivotal milestones, and the people who helped grow the movement to plant and care for trees in Los Angeles and beyond. Visitors will encounter photographs, stories, and more that capture the mission that has powered our work for generations.

From early volunteer tree-planting campaigns to watershed restoration and green solutions, the exhibition paints a vivid narrative of how a small grassroots effort grew into a regional force for environmental stewardship.

Celebrating a New Chapter

The exhibition also marks the naming of the Schuman Family Foundation Conference Center, a key gathering place at TreePeople’s Coldwater Canyon headquarters, where the exhibition is held.

This space has long served as a hub for environmental education, collaboration, and community engagement. With its new name, the center honors philanthropic support that helps ensure TreePeople’s impact continues to grow and thrive in the years ahead.
