Conservation Easements

An essential way that TPLT conserves land is through conservation easements, which are legal agreements with private landowners to protect open space property from development. The Land Trust manages many of these easements throughout the Santa Monica Mountains, where it regularly monitors for any illegal development or land use within protected areas.
