Thousands of bees, butterflies, beetles, birds, bats, and more help sustain our native ecosystems and fertilize our plants here in Southern California. How do they do this? It’s because they are pollinators, of course!

This Earth Month, TreePeople is celebrating these mighty beings by hosting POLLINATOR PALOOZA 🌸🐝, a community-centered restoration day and education fair. As part of our ongoing mission to plant 6,000 native milkweed plants, we’re welcoming volunteers, families, and more to help restore habitats, learn about environmental resources, and create real change for pollinators in our region.

Join us on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 9 AM to 1 PM for hands-on and exciting festivities as we plant and give away narrowleaf milkweed to expand the habitat for western monarch butterflies and other pollinators at Castaic Lake.

Let’s Plant Milkweed Together!

Pollinators play a critical role in sustaining our wildlands and urban interface, yet they face growing threats from habitat loss, climate change, and the aftermath of wildfires. One of the major pollinators highlighted in this event is the western monarch butterfly. In recent years, the number of monarchs migrating to California during the butterflies’ annual fall migration has dropped by about 95 percent. This decline is partly due to habitat loss, specifically the decrease in native milkweed plants.

One of the most important things we can do to increase monarch populations is to grow more native milkweed throughout our region. During the Pollinator Palooza, we’re asking volunteers, nature lovers, and families alike to get their hands in the soil and plant milkweed with us at Castaic Lake!

Get Your Pollinator Costume Ready!

In addition to planting hundreds of milkweeds for habitat restoration, this special event will include a pollinator costume fashion show. Get ready to display your best pollinator fit! It’s a playful reminder of the beauty and diversity of pollinators, so feel free to show off your creativity.

We will also have native plant giveaways and other fun, free, and educational activities for the whole family!

Let’s come together to support pollinators, restore our ecosystems, and celebrate Earth Month!
