Happy Earth Month, fellow tree people!
A greener LA is always on our mind, but this month especially we’re thinking about the love we give to our urban forest. Climate change and a record drought mean that trees are stressed, and keeping LA green and sustainable is more important than ever. We rely on volunteers to help us transform our region into a healthy urban ecosystem, and there’s no time like the present to start doing your part!
Here are all the ways you can help out this month.
COLDWATER CANYON PARK WORK DAYS
April 16, 23, 30
Volunteer at a Park Work Day in our beautiful 45-acre campus atop Mulholland Drive for a day of trails, trees and views in one of LA’s most loved green spaces. Help us keep it looking great by sprucing up the trails, removing invasive plants, regrading slopes to protect them from erosion and even help in our seedling nursery.

ANGELES FOREST RESTORATION
April 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26
After wildfires destroyed a quarter of the Angeles National forest in 2009, we’ve vowed to replant and restore the fire-damaged areas of the forest to the tune of 7,000 new trees. This massive project relies on volunteers to care for newly-planted seedlings by watering and mulching them, thus ensuring their survival throughout the coming warm season.

COMMUNITY TREE CARE EVENTS

You can join us, local community members, and local businesses to continue to support our neighborhood urban forests by watering, mulching, and caring for recently planted trees in parks, on LA streets, and on school campuses.
City parks have been shown to provide integral benefits to both people and communities’ health and happiness, so it’s key we nurture them for generations to come.
SANTA MONICA MOUNTAIN RESTORATION
April 25, 26
This month, our very own Cody Chappel and the Mountains Restoration Trust need you to join them in protecting the pristine beauty of the Santa Monica Mountains. We’ll focus on watering native plants and weeding along trails, by streams, and in grassland to remove non-native invasive plants (weeds) that are creating fire danger and destroying habitat for Topanga turtles, deer, and endangered steelhead trout.
