Whatever you’re doing on Saturday, October 5, cancel it, call-in sick, quickly clone yourself, something. Just do whatever you need to do to get to TreePeople’s FREE Community Sustainability Workshop. Why the rush? Well, believe it or not, soon it will rain in Los Angeles, and now is the time to get ready.
Native plant nurseries are gearing up for their fall sales, and fall is the best time to do a bit of landscaping here in Southern California. Too, Metropolitan Water District recently okay’d an incentive plan for rain barrels and rain gardens. That means that all over LA, you can get money back for simply using water that falls from the sky for free.
At TreePeople’s workshop—taking place at our Center for Community Forestry from 9AM to 1PM—you can choose from how to reduce your turf and replace it with native plants, how to install a rain barrel and/or a rain garden, or how to get more trees for your community. We also offer an outreach training the same day, so folks can learn how to bring TreePeople’s work into their neighborhoods and schools.
Yep, it’s all that, and we feed you breakfast, too! All for free and all to help LA become a greener, more sustainable city!
We hold these workshops every other month, so if you absolutely have to miss this one, we will have one on December 7, but hurry, seats are filling up fast for both classes!
