Cold Creek Canyon Preserve (CCCP)

The Cold Creek Canyon Preserve protects some of the most pristine wetland & riparian environments in Southern California. Home to the headwaters of Cold Creek and its year-round springs, many unique species of plants and animals thrive in this area, including Humboldt lilies, stream orchids, and the threatened California newt.

To protect these valuable natural resources from invasive species such as the New Zealand Mud Snail, the Cold Creek Canyon Preserve is currently closed to public use. Access is by permit only for research purposes. Ongoing research includes the human impact to chaparral growth, the impact of fire frequency on soil properties, and utilizing Cold Creek’s waters as a benchmark for water quality in the mountains.
