Hey Treeps!
We’re all TreePeople — some of us just happen to work here.
Here’s our latest installment in our Meet a TreePerson series!
Today’s TreePerson is Loyda Ramos, Education Outreach Manager.
Originally from New York, Loyda Ramos moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film, television and theater. She appeared in 35 film, television, and theatre projects before finding her passion for environmental protection as a volunteer at TreePeople in the 1980s. She first worked on TreePeople’s development team before leaving TreePeople and later returning to the Environmental Education Department.
What is your favorite tree? Why?
The Coast Live Oak, I took the “What Tree Am I Quiz” on our website and that was my answer.
Where are you from originally? What makes it special?
I come from Brooklyn, New York. It has a rich history and it’s where the Dodgers originated!
What inspired you to join TreePeople?
I originally volunteered based on the recommendation of a friend who worked at TreePeople. I was offered a job after I volunteered and stayed for five years. I then left but came back for 22 more years!
What’s your favorite TreePeople memory?
There’s too many to list; Crosby, Stills and Nash playing at our An Evening Under the Harvest Moon event, meeting Jane Goodall, and bringing students to a Disney benefit where they met the Jonas Brothers!
What’s your favorite local outdoor space?
It has to be TreePeople!

Baby Love by The Supremes (it’s super catchy and from a great period of my life) and Ball of Confusion by The Temptations (it’s still relevant after all these years).
What’s your favorite home-cooked meal?
Is Mac and Cheese a home-cooked meal? I also love Rice and Beans.
What’s a fun fact about yourself?
