TreePeople’s Monthly Newsletter for September 2026

As we feel the impact of these recent heatwaves across Los Angeles, I’m reminded just how important our work at TreePeople is. We can expect more days of extreme heat in the years ahead, making it more important than ever to plant and care for trees—especially in communities with the least canopy and greatest exposure to heat. Trees are essential infrastructure that provide critical shade and cooling that can help create cooler neighborhoods and even cooler homes, while delivering so many other benefits for our health, environment, and quality of life. Through our Rooting for LA campaign to plant 28,000 trees by 2028, and our work across the region, we are building a greener, healthier, and more resilient Los Angeles—one tree, one neighborhood, and one community at a time.

Moonlight Hike: Manami

Bring a blanket and settle in for a sunset picnic and moonlit stroll! Enjoy the musical stylings of multi-instrumentalist Manami while overlooking our beautiful canyon on Friday, September 25, 2026. Expect to hear the inspiring sounds of handmade instruments, the marimba, percussion, piano, guitar, and more. Right after the music programmed by Living Earth, you’ll get the chance to howl at the moon and experience our trails after dark. Bring your flashlight, hiking shoes, and take your pick of three different hikes led by our eco-educators; all ages and experience levels are welcome!

Check-in begins around 6:30pm, music shortly after 7pm, and we split into our hiking groups promptly at 8 pm. Parking is limited, and carpooling and ridesharing to our park at Coldwater and Mulholland Drive is highly encouraged.
